    The Results Are In
And for the first time in 4 years my step dad's bloodwork came back normal!!
According to the results there is no cancer in his body right now. My mother sounds wonderful and my only fear is that her hope isn't squashed when the bloodwork is done again in August. I guess until then that we enjoy the summer and try to forget what has happened in the last few years. Time will tell!

One of these days I'll find the time for a proper post. Next week I'll make time. The siding and windows are being done and while they are being done I'll be on "The Island" catching up with some friends. I did go to the funeral home 2 weeks ago and will have some great relax time with my 2 oldest friends. We will have known each other 34 years this fall. That's a scary thought!

    Till later....

    Happy Miller's Day
This is Mother's Day number 3 for me. All of the others were spent with my head under the blankets and thoughts of running away. I have to admit that this day is easier there are still little pangs of jealousy when I see a pregnant woman or one with more than one child.

I called this post Happy Miller's Day, because that's what I was woken up with this morning. Who is Miller you might ask? We aren't really sure who s/he is, but whoever it is really makes Jo stand up and listen.

When hubby was a kid they were always threatened that Miller was coming if they were misbehaving. Now, remember there are 12 siblings in hubby's family. I think misbehaving might have been a gimme! So whenever Jo is not listening a little mention of the name brings her right back to reality and she starts to listen. With any luck this will take us into the teeneage years! Ya ok....I tried

A few days ago Nancy at Blog Pourri blogged about morping into her mother. That post made me really think and admit that I have indeed become my mother. I started noticing it long before Jo was even born with the kids that I babysat, but damn I am saying things that I swore I would never say to my kids. Here are a just a few of the quotes:
-You are going to be one sorry little girl if you don't......
    -Get to your room now!
    -I'm not telling you again.
    -For the last time...
-Get into that bed right now, I don't want to see you until morning
    -Are your ears broken?
-Do I have to call your father?
and the list goes on. At the same time Jo is becoming too much like me(so much for the no genetics theory). She wanted me to do something the other day and I was busy and not really paying attention when she looked at me and said, "You understand Mommy". I will often ask her "Are you having trouble understanding me?" when paying attention isn't in her list of things to do that minute. It amazes me how much they pick up when you don't think they are paying attention at all.

Last weekend I got my Mother's Day Gifts! I got two of these. And man are they comfortable.

I should be taking advantage of Jo sleeping and get the Census finished before we head out to my Mom's for a visit. We visited Gramma(my step mom) this morning and then went to McDonald's for lunch. Not sure what's on the menu for supper tonight. Hubby worked all weekend and is home now cutting the lawn.

    Happy Mother's Day to all!!

PS..Thanks to Krazy K for letting me sleep in this morning

    What to do?

Jo was better for the last part of the week. Hubby has stopped going into work so early and is helping out more in the morning which is really nice. It makes a huge difference in the amount of time I need to get ready. I'm not sure which was worse, her fighting me to do anything or her wanting Daddy to do everything and I can't help at all. It works for getting dressed and brushing her teeth(btw thanks for all the ideas) but when it comes to doing her hair Daddy is all thumbs. I'm hoping that next week will be better. It will be the third week and with any luck a routine will soon be established.

Now for the dilemma of the week? I was reading the paper this morning and one of the obits was for a friend's sister in law. Sherri and I met when we were starting kindergarten. We stayed friend's until grade 11 when I moved. We saw each other once in a while, but didn't' really keep in touch. In the last few years we have gotten together at least once a year and our last visit was great! I've met her husband numerous times and he is a great guy. They live on Manitoulin Island so it's not like we can do lunch once a month. I'd like to go to the funeral home tomorrow, but I don't know any of his family. So, do I go or just send a donation?
There is visitation tomorrow and the service on Monday. I guess I have the night to sleep on it.

I'll let you know what I decide!

Ok..on to the goodies from the week!

Krazzy K and Jo had a picnic last Sunday! Jo thought it was great!

After a potty training accident we ran through the yard!

I don't think we need to worry about wearing Sunscreen this summer! She is obsessed with it!

Finally..this was delivered this afternoon! 52 inches. I'm not sure why we need a TV this big, but I gotta admit that I like it.

    The Willful Child
We have been trying to raise Jo to be independent. With that said, it has come back to bite me in the ass. It also doesn't help that she has her birth mother's temper at times too. That in itself is a whole new blog!

Tonight I had to leave the room for fear I was going to hurt her. All I wanted her to do was put on another pair of panites and shorts. She spilled chocolate milk all over the ones she was wearing(the third pair of the day). She started to pitch a fit and I forcefully put the clothes on her body and walked outside. It took me a minute or two to calm down and when I came back inside she was in better humour too.

Mornings have become a nightmare. She doesn't want to get dressed, get her hair combed or brush her teeth. It has gotten to the point of bribery to get anything done. Chocolate eggs go a long way when trying to get out the door on time. I just hate the idea of chocolate after breakfast in the morning.

I've tried letting her pick her clothes, toothbrush....I'm at a loss and have put a toothbrush and toothpaste in her bag so she can brush her teeth at daycare. It takes 2 of us to give her teeth a good brush once a day. I caught one of those nanny shows where the nanny told the mom to let her child go to school in her pajamas, and it only took a few mornings without proper clothes and messy hair for the child to get her act together. I fear that this won't work. Jo is one stubborn child and I know for a fact that she'd get a kick out of going to Laurie's in her pj's.

    I'm tired..and need ideas...
